In Bengaluru, thousands of road vendors are facing GST notices despite their daily income being less than Rs 800, which is significantly below the annual income limit of Rs 40 lakh for GST. Notices were triggered by the use of UPI for transactions, by converting their participation in the Digital India campaign into an issue. It has given rise to a political dispute, in which the Karnataka government has convicted the BJP by accusing the GST policy of the Center and the tax department of the state. Worker unions allege that UPI platforms may have shared seller data without consent. The Federation of Street vendors have called for a statewide protest on 25 July. A representative of a union said, “What is my demand, whatever the penalty is and whatever demand you are before 2025 and now whenever they are registering, you make them to register your establishment and then whatever tax claims.” #Bengaluru #Streetvendors #GST #Itwebvideos #UPI #TAXNITEMARE You just need to press the bell icon next to the subscribe button!
