Sri Lanka is facing severe floods after heavy rains caused by Cyclone Ditvah. At least 56 people have been killed and 21 are missing. About 3,000 houses have been damaged, and about 44,000 people have been affected, of whom 15,000 are sheltering in relief centres. Rescue teams are using helicopters, navy boats and military units to reach stranded communities. India has launched Operation Sagar Bandhu, sending ships and relief material and preparing helicopter support.
